Fit the whole source
Preserve all source content and fill the remaining square with a blurred, white, black, transparent or custom background.
Create an exact 2048 by 2048 pixel square while controlling whether the source is fitted, cropped or stretched. Fit is the safer choice for text-heavy artwork; Crop is useful when a photo can fill the square naturally.
A 2048×2048 target is square, so portrait and landscape sources need either extra canvas or some cropping. ListingFormat lets you make that decision explicitly instead of applying one automatic crop to every file.
Preserve all source content and fill the remaining square with a blurred, white, black, transparent or custom background.
Use edge-to-edge cropping for product photos or other images where some outer source area can be safely removed.
A 2048-pixel target is relatively large. If the source is significantly smaller, the tool flags upscaling so you can decide whether a higher-resolution original is available.
Upload JPG, PNG or WebP. The source file is resized in your browser rather than uploaded to a ListingFormat image-processing server.
Use the 2048×2048 Shopify-oriented preset when that workflow applies, or choose Custom and enter 2048 for both width and height.
Select Fit or Crop, choose output format and quality, then generate and download the final image.
2048×2048 provides slightly more pixel detail than a 2000×2000 square while keeping the same 1:1 aspect ratio.
Large square images can be useful where products need room for detail and consistent gallery presentation.
Use Fit for covers and branded graphics so headings, borders and corner elements remain intact even when the source ratio is not square.
JPG can keep photographic files smaller, while PNG is useful when transparency or lossless graphics matter. WebP can also offer efficient web delivery.
The two sizes have the same square shape. 2048×2048 contains 4,194,304 pixels, while 2000×2000 contains 4,000,000. That is roughly 4.86% more pixels. The difference is modest, so the destination specification usually matters more than the visual difference between the two sizes.
4,194,304 pixels, which is about 4.19 megapixels.
