Fit complete artwork
Keep every word and design element visible. Fill side space with a blurred-image treatment, solid background or transparent canvas.
Convert square, portrait or landscape artwork into a 16:9 widescreen layout for thumbnails, presentations, course graphics and video-related artwork. Choose Fit to keep the complete design or Crop when a photo can safely fill the frame.
A 16:9 target is wider than a square or portrait source. The clean way to convert between those shapes is either to crop the source or fit the complete image inside the widescreen canvas. Stretching changes the original proportions and can make text, faces and logos look distorted.
Keep every word and design element visible. Fill side space with a blurred-image treatment, solid background or transparent canvas.
Fill the widescreen frame edge to edge when the subject is centered and the top, bottom or sides can be trimmed safely.
The ratio and resolution are separate choices. A 1280×720 image and a 3840×2160 image are both 16:9 but contain very different amounts of pixel detail.
Select a JPG, PNG or WebP. The source image stays in your browser for resizing and conversion.
Use a 16:9 destination preset such as YouTube, or choose Custom and enter any matching 16:9 dimensions.
Choose how the source should be framed, set format and quality, then generate and download the result.
A standard HD 16:9 size. It is compact enough for many web uses while still offering a useful amount of detail.
Full HD and one of the most familiar 16:9 resolutions. It works well when a larger widescreen image is desirable without moving into 4K dimensions.
A 4K UHD-sized 16:9 canvas. It is substantially larger and should ideally start from a high-resolution source to avoid obvious upscaling.
This is very close to 16:9 rather than mathematically exact. ListingFormat uses it for its Udemy-oriented preset, reflecting a platform-specific canvas rather than a generic ratio rule.
If the source is a square book cover, digital-product cover or course graphic, aggressive cropping can remove the title or branding. Fit mode keeps the complete artwork and uses the extra widescreen area as intentional background space. For photography, Crop may give a more immersive result when the outer source area is expendable.
There is no single size. 1280×720, 1920×1080 and 3840×2160 are all 16:9 because their width-to-height proportions match.
Yes. Use Fit mode. The full square source remains visible with additional canvas on the sides.
1920×1080 is one specific resolution that has a 16:9 aspect ratio.
No. Upscaling increases the pixel dimensions but cannot reconstruct detail that was not present in the source.
